Business Spotlight – Harbor Park, Home of the Norfolk Tides

Harbor Park, with its outstanding view and sound design, is one of the finest baseball facilities in existence. The ballpark is located in downtown Norfolk on the Elizabeth River, and opened in 1993. The first game was played on April 14, 1993 with the Norfolk Tides winning 2-0 over the Ottawa Lynx.

Harbor Park has a seating capacity of 12,067 to include almost 9,000 lower deck seats, 2,800 upper deck seats, and 400 seats in 24 luxury skyboxes leased to area corporations. The park’s 225-seat restaurant, “Hits at the Park,” offers a full view of the playing field. Overlooking left field is the 300-person tiered picnic area. In 1995, Harbor Park was selected by Baseball America as the finest minor league facility in the land. In celebration and service to the community, The Tide light rail system includes a station at Harbor Park. The station will be located on the north edge of the stadium parking lots and will also feature a park-and-ride lot. Spectators will save time and money by riding The Tide to Harbor Park and avoid the long wait times and fees for parking on game day. After the game, fans can climb aboard The Tide to reach any number of destinations in just a few minutes.

Light rail construction activities near Harbor Park are currently underway and will involve installation of the light rail track and overhead catenary system (which powers the vehicles), building the station and park-and-ride lot facilities, and landscaping. Throughout construction, access to Harbor Park will be maintained for The Norfolk Tides home games.

Harbor Park’s opening day is April 3rd when the Norfolk Tides will go up against the Buffalo Bisons. Tickets for all games are now on sale, including season and individual game tickets. Purchase your tickets through ticketmaster.com, Ticketmaster outlets, by calling (757) 671-8100 or in person at Harbor Park.
