Randy Wright Provides Leadership to The Alliance

Randy Wright represents Ward 5 on the Norfolk City Council and is the owner of Randy Wright Printing and Publishing. He was first elected to City Council in 1992 and re-elected to four year terms in 1994, 1998, 2002 and 2006. Randy is a past member of the Norfolk City Planning Commission and a current member of the Ocean View Kiwanis Club. He is past chairman of the State Board of Commerce, past president of the Norfolk-Virginia Beach Executive Club and past jury commissioner of Norfolk Circuit Court. He is also chair of the Mayor's Ocean View Task Force and Economic and Community Business Development Committee, serves on the Downtown Development Task Force, and is a member of many other boards and committees.

Currently, Randy is chair of The Tide Light Rail System Alliance. The Tide Light Rail System Alliance meets monthly and provides input and guidance to Hampton Roads Transit on the light rail project. The Alliance is a public forum for business, government, educational and community leaders to present and discuss their transportation and land use ideas, needs, and concerns. The Alliance allows these groups to have a voice and actively coordinate with HRT to make better, locally-informed decisions, and to consider community preferences for transit and land use policies and investments. The Alliance also identifies specific concerns that may impact the light rail system; recommends solutions to these issues; and broadens the knowledge and information-sharing among the various member organizations.
