Downtown Norfolk Council

In the coming issues of The Tide E-News, we will highlight several community organizations that are, and will continue to be, invaluable resources to HRT as we strive to keep the general public, property and business owners apprised of construction activities, schedule and progress and to ensure their issues and concerns are promptly addressed.

The Downtown Norfolk Council (DNC) is an award winning organization comprised of more than 300 businesses and individual members dedicated to promoting and enhancing business, cultural, retail and residential initiatives in downtown Norfolk. DNC is also the manager of the Downtown Norfolk Business Improvement District. Throughout construction, the DNC will work closely with The Tide public outreach staff to ensure those who live, work or otherwise enjoy downtown Norfolk receive the information necessary for them to navigate the temporary challenges and short-term inconveniences construction of the light rail system will create. DNC will also work closely with the City of Norfolk on a marketing and public relations program designed to support the community throughout the challenges of multiple construction projects.

“This is one of the most exciting times in the history of downtown Norfolk,” said Cathy Coleman, President/CEO of the Downtown Norfolk Council. “Our goal is to work closely with the community to address challenges while staying very focused on the amazing outcomes we are working toward. It is definitely a time to celebrate success.”
