Survey Results Reveal Valuable Lessons
The good news is HRT has developed a comprehensive public information program that includes all of the great ideas shared by the public during the open houses. HRT will continue to place newspaper ads and send direct mailings to its contact list of over 16,000 citizens announcing all major events. Our web site, ridethetide.com, was launched in October of last year, is updated almost daily, and includes an email subscription service. Public Outreach Coordinators will continue to meet with impacted businesses and communities along the light rail route and provide updates on construction and related activities.
Planning is underway to conduct a series of informational sessions with City of Norfolk public schools, Norfolk State University, Old Dominion University, and Tidewater Community College. And we will soon publish our telephone hotline that will give you access to The Tide staff 24/7.
Many challenges lay ahead, nonetheless, HRT remains firm in its commitment to public outreach and the promise to provide transportation choices for all of Hampton Roads.
HRT would like to thank its employees, business and community planning partners, government officials, and above all the citizens who participated in The Tide Construction Kick-Off open houses.
