Survey Results Reveal Valuable Lessons
We asked and you answered. The results are in from over 100 opinion surveys completed by citizens during The Tide Construction Kick-Off open houses. Here’s what we learned from you:
• The most popular methods for hearing about Tide meetings and events are newspaper advertisements (39%) and flyers sent in the mail (35%). Other preferred methods (28%) include The Tide web site, emails from teachers, coworkers, and civic and business associations. Click here to view chart.
• The majority of the open house participants (53%) live near the light rail route. While 22% work near the light rail route.

• Citizens identified the following groups as the most important to reach out to during light rail construction: residents and businesses near the light rail route, public school and college students, existing and potential HRT riders, civic leagues, and the downtown workforce.
• The appealing graphics of the video simulation were well received. Citizens praised the vibrant color, details and use of photographs of city streets and light rail tracks that enhanced the realism of the light rail system. To improve the video, participants recommended adding a descriptive voice-over that explained key components of the light rail system.
• Citizens ranked the following as the TOP 5 priorities for public outreach during construction:
