Marie Arnt
Line Section 2 (Harbor Park to Newtown Road)

Marie Arnt is the Public Outreach Coordinator for Line Section 2. Marie is a lifelong resident of Norfolk and joined Hampton Roads Transit in 2002. Throughout her tenure with HRT she has promoted a variety of public transportation services including senior programs, new services, programs for youth, and educating the public through various meetings about public transportation.

From the planning stages, to final design and now the construction phase, Marie has been a valued member of light rail transit technical team. But it doesn’t stop there. Marie’s community service extends well beyond HRT. Marie was President of the Roosevelt Area Civic League for four years and also served as president of the Norfolk Federation of Civic Leagues from October 2000 to May 2003.

Marie’s wealth of local knowledge and history, strong bonds with community leaders and government officials alike, are a tremendous asset to HRT and The Tide. When asked how The Tide will benefit the community, Marie responded, “For the communities that will be served by The Tide, it will offer citizens a new transportation alternative instead of using their cars to get to work or shopping. Our community offers many exciting activities, especially downtown, and getting there by light rail will give them a choice to sit back and enjoy the ride.”
